I will make it short and sweet. I don't like talking too much.
Considering the lame promo airing, everyone was waiting to rip this show apart as soon as it released.
So when it finally came on air, it lived up to our Great Unexpectations but it was not that bad either.
Let's enumerate it step by step:-
1) The promo was so bad, we were expecting something really horrid. However after one watch it just turns out to be a mediocre show, but not horrible.
2) Character types are so archaic. We have the Jock, a Muslim, a gay and then a white caucasian female. It's like Riverdale Gang going to FBI for fun.
3) Priyanka Chopra somehow manages to stay afloat. Thanks to her being surrounding by incredibly lazy actors. We can't blame her for her wannabe accent and even stupider one liners, as its a wannabe show trying to serious. You can only be as good as your show. If the show has limitations, you cannot break through, despite being a decent actress.
4) Some sequences are just so dim, that you literally watch them with squint eyes eg doing it with the Jock in the Car and then meeting him in Quantico and saying in front of everyone, : Hey we had sex in your car 6 hours ago" Is that producer's attempt to make Alex seem cool. Egad!! she sounds so dumb saying that!!!!
5) Tha blaring soundtrack in the background. Those songs/ Oh! God! are we in those Oh-not-so-cool movies of the 80s
6) The worst part is Blindspot released a few days back, which has a similar storyline and we have Homeland returning in a few days time. Two shows, which are way better compared to Quantico with similar kind of female protagonists playing the lead role.
7) The person who's writing the dialogues is stuck in a time warp. He tries to make every character look and feel cool and its just so clinched that I sometimes felt like vomiting on myself. Everything is so over-exaggerated and loud.
8) The lie detector sequences were good. That was the highlight of the 1st episode.
I can actually go and on about how wrong and lame and childish this whole show is, but I want you all to watch it and form your opinion. I hope it improves. It's not terrible but Priyanka Chopra could have chosen a better launch vehicle. She tries here too but it is severely let down by very thinly crafted screenplay along with boring attempt of edgy characterization, which fails miserably.
