Southpaw is new wine in old bottle but the wine is fresh and young, yet tastes vintage!!!!

Southpaw is the same old yarn of a boxer fighting for redemption, after he has lost everything. We have watched this story play out so many times, but still Southpaw delivers, because its got Jake, Jake, Jake, Jake.....Wow! What an act!!!!

I really didn't like the script or the screenplay much. It was weighed down by clinches galore, but Jake.....Oh! Man!!! this movie is a testimony to what a brilliant actor can do to an average movie and script. Forest Whitaker supports him well but Jake just goes about proceedings like a man possessed. Its as if he is punching hi way out of a hole of a movie, constantly thrilling us with his insane method acting. Everything surrounding him is normal and boring and already seen before but he casts a halo and absorbs everything and regurgitates clobber time.. time and again over and over again.

Its just a knockout performance!!! Jake Gyllenhal can even make a bad movie seem so good that you forget and forgive the average director, the stilted script and the mediocre screenplay. You forgive and forget everything because you are witnessing the greatness of Jake Gyllenhal.

Loved 50 cent too. My favorite rapper bro-man. He is just too cool and suave and makes anything and everything look good and flashy and golden black.

Southpaw may not be the best combat movie ever made but its definitely the one of the finest boxer acts ever. The only performance better than this was Robert De Niro in Raging Bull so its an absolute mast must-watch just because of Jake. And the last fight is a gem - the techniques boxers adopt are excellently shown- it is indeed a chess game of grit and muscle and sweat and blood!!!! Southpaw has brought that alive through a fabulous performance by Jake Gyllenhal. I have to say I have never ever seen a punch being thrown so hard in a movie, but Southpaw just jabs that Monday Night Moment on to us hard, up close and personal!!!!
